Marshall was founded in 1837, and named after the 4th Chief of Justice of the United States, John Marshall. The main campus is located in Huntington, West Virginia, with regional campuses in South Charleston, Point Pleasant, Teays Valley, and Beckley. Marshall is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and holds dual AACSB accreditation in business administration and accounting. The Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education classifies Marshall as an R2- Doctoral University with High Research Activity. In 2019, Marshall was ranked 14th among top public schools in the south by U.S. News and World Report.

Students attending Marshall University can earn a plethora of undergraduate and graduate business degrees from the award-winning Lewis College of Business. The COB In 2019, The Princeton Review recognized Lewis among the best business schools in the nation. 

Education

Undergraduate majors include Accounting, Economics, Energy Management, Entrepreneurship, Finance, Health Care Management, International Business, Management, Management Information Systems, and Marketing. A Master’s of Business Administration is offered, as well as a Master’s of Science in Accountancy, Healthcare Administration, and Human Resource Management. The MBA is 36-credit hours and can be completed online or on-campus. Students can customize their degree by adding a concentration in Accounting, Finance, Healthcare Administration, Human Resource Management, Management, Marketing, Supply Chain Management, or Military Management. Marshall students receive an exceptional education at an excellent price point.

Student Life

Students who participate in clubs throughout their college experience are more likely to land jobs, and there is no shortage of business organizations for students to become involved in. Within the business department, there are 11 student organizations, such as the American Marketing Association, the Collegiate Entrepreneurs’ Organization, and the International Business Club. These organizations provide excellent opportunities for professional networking. Students can also enhance their understanding of international business by completing a study abroad trip. Business students can complete a study abroad program in Germany and Switzerland with a focus on Renewable Energy or a general international affairs trip to Australia.

In 2018, Marshall was named one of the Top 100 Most Affordable Universities in America by Best Value Schools. Graduate students can actually “pay” for their tuition with a graduate assistantship. There are many GA opportunities on campus with various departments, including the Office of Admissions, Intercultural Affairs, as an academic tutor, and of course within the COB. There are also nearly 50 scholarships available specifically for business students. Through graduate assistantships and the support of benefactors, earning a degree at Marshall is affordable, yet will pay dividends in students’ future. Alumni who have made great strides in the business world will be honored at the Passing the Leadership Baton Series. This speaker series inspires business students to pursue greatness and turn their dreams into reality!

Online Program

Marshall is geared up for online learning. Every semester more than 200 e-courses are available. There are many all-online undergraduate and graduate degrees with absolutely no face-to-face or on-site attendance requirements.

The Lewis College of Business offers an MBA with online areas of emphasis in Military Management and Management. This program takes all of the strengths of the on-campus program and adapts it into an online format.
