Students can earn a top-notch business degree from the Joseph A. Butt, S.J., College of Business at Loyola University New Orleans. U.S. News and World Report ranks Loyola 10th among Best Regional Universities of the South and 12th “Best Value” in the South. The Fiske Guide to College gives Loyola high marks for Easy Access to Faculty, Challenging Academic Climate, and Intimate Classes. The Princeton Review also lists Loyola’s COB among the nation’s “Best Business Schools.” The COB is AACSB accredited, and professors prepare students for the latest careers on the market through business ventures and experience with real-world companies. Students can also use the stock-trading room to access live financial and stock data. The Ideation Lab is a workspace designed for students in entrepreneurship classes and internships. Alumni are successfully employed with JP Morgan, Yelp, Yahoo!, and Goldman Sachs.

Education

Undergraduate students can earn a Bachelor of Business Administration in Business Analytics, Economics, Finance, International Business, Management, or Marketing. A Bachelor of Accountancy is also offered. Classes provide students with experiential learning experiences, such as earning a Google certification in Digital Marketing. The Student-managed Investment Fund course allows students to manage a real portfolio. Students who maintain an overall GPA of 3.3 or higher may participate in the University Honors Program, which consists of more challenging courses and enrichment activities.

The Master of Business Administration is offered in two tracks; the Full-time “Fast-track” Evening program, which can be completed in one year, and the “Part-time” Professional Evening program which takes two years. Both programs are 40-credit hours and consist of the same curriculum. Optional specialization tracks include Entrepreneurship, Marketing, Finance, and Operations. Students will complete four immersion weeks throughout the program, with themes such as Career Management, MBA Experience, Venture and Ideation, Ethics and Social Justice, Business Law, Real Estate Investments, Healthcare Project Management, and Information Security Management. Each immersion experience is four days long. The MBA program also recently partnered with NASA in a new venture called the Technology Transfer University Initiative. Business students will learn to use NASA intellectual property and to commercialize these technologies.

Student Life

The Portfolio Career Program is an eight-semester program guiding freshman through seniors to their future careers, with milestone requirements along the way, such as attendance at networking events, mock interviews, mentoring, and internships. Students can also develop career-enhancing skills through participation in the American Marketing Association, Economics Club, Global Business Association, MBA Student Association, or a business fraternity.

Online Programs

Undergraduate students can earn an online Bachelor of Business Administration, and graduate students can pursue a Master of Business Administration. BBA students complete all courses online but can participate in an internship to gain real-world experience. Majors in Finance and Management are offered for BBA students. The online MBA is 40-credit hours and can be completed in two years. Accelerated courses are offered in six and eight-week sessions. Students in the online MBA will still complete four immersion week experiences.
