Louisiana State University is the flagship university and is the only public university in Louisiana recognized in the Top Tier by U.S. News and World Report. Additionally, U.S. News and World Report names LSU an “A-Plus School for B Students,” ranks the E.J. Ourso College of Business among the top quarter of business schools, and lists the college as one where students graduate with the least amount of debt. The E.J. Education
Students will receive the support they need to earn an undergraduate business degree. Bachelor of Science degrees are offered in Accounting, Economics, International Trade and Finance, Finance, General Business, Information Systems and Decision Sciences, Entrepreneurship, Management, and Marketing, and a Bachelor of Arts is available in Economics. Some of the degrees allow a student to select a concentration, such as Management, which features options in Human Resource Management, International Management, or Strategic Leadership. Students in any major can complete the Internal Audit specialization. The Rotunda business building is designed to maximize student learning. It features an Ideation Lab with a real-time Stock ticker and the Securities Market Analysis Research and Trading Lab with a simulated trading floor.
Master’s degrees can serve as the perfect stepping stone for career advancement. Ourso students can earn a Master of Science in Economics, Analytics, or Finance, a Master of Accountancy, or the Flores Master of Business Administration. The MBA program is offered in a variety of designs, including Full-time, joint JD/MBA, Professional, and Executive. The eight MBA specializations are Internal Auditing, Energy, Analytics, Global Entrepreneurship, Finance, Human Resource Management, Management Consulting, and Sports Business. The Ph.D. in Business features concentrations in Marketing, Management, Finance, and ISDS, as well as a Ph.D. in Economics or Accounting.
Student Life
Nearly 2,000 undergraduate students and 500 graduate students have made Ourso their home away from home. Students can meet their future business partners through the Business Residential College, a living-learning environment for freshmen. Ourso places a strong emphasis on professional development opportunities. Students can take advantage of networking at events such as the Shell Networking Reception and Spring and Fall Networking Receptions. In order to prepare for interviews, students can attend the annual Etiquette Dinner, panel discussions, and participate in the Dress for Success fashion show. Students can also join the Alpha Kappa Psi or Delta Sigma Pi business fraternities, or other business organizations related to their field of study. Business students also devote time to volunteer efforts, such as community clean-ups and organizing food drives. Study abroad programs are available at more than 170 partner universities, for students seeking an international experience.
