Louisiana State University Shreveport’s College of Business has been AACSB-accredited since 1992, proving excellence in many areas of the educational process. The CoB strives to educate, engage, and empower its over 2,000 students to reach beyond what they even think is possible. With expert faculty, a challenging and foundational business curriculum, a global influence, and active learning opportunities, graduates are prepared to enter a career with confidence and succeed with boldness.
Education
Those pursuing a Bachelors degree can major in General Business Administration, Marketing, Accounting, Management & Administration, or Finance. Also available to undergraduate students are the optional concentrations in Financial Analysis, Advertising Design, Public Accounting, Business Law, Financial Services, Hospitality, International Business, and Entrepreneurship. Business graduate degree programs are offered online. Incoming freshmen can benefit from financial assistance through the Taylor Opportunity Program along with the Louisiana, Red River, Shreveport, or Purple and Gold Scholarships. There are also Transfer Scholarships available to students who began their education at a different institution. Members of the Louisiana National Guard can receive a full tuition exemption. Business students can travel to Germany for a two-week course at FHNON University in Luneburg, entitled ‘Issues in European Business.’
Student Life
Students must engage in the University’s organizations, activities, events, and groups to gain the most out of their overall educational experience. The student portal, ‘Get Anchored In,’ is a great way to learn about and participate in different events and groups. Organizations that business students can benefit from including the Association of Student Accountants, Society for Human Resource Management, Student Finance Association, Debate Team, Nonprofit Administration Student Organization, Campus Ministries International, Catholic Student Union, National Society of Leadership and Success, Rotaract Club, and the Student Government Association. Student Activities implements opportunities for active learning, leadership development, and serving the community. Students can help others through, or benefit from the Food Pantry, which provides food and nutritious resources for students. The Community Service Initiative provides service project options like volunteering with the Bossier Rescue Mission fundraiser Jeep Show, Prize Fest, and the Red River Balloon Rally. Students can also access services like Student Success, which helps guide students in their academic path.
Counseling Services are available to assist with personal and mental development and health. Career Services offers personal career guidance and resources to best prepare students for their future careers. The CoB Internship Program provides real-world, hands-on experience while students earn college credit.
Online Programs
Working professionals can more easily obtain a Masters degree through the flexibility and accessibility of online degree programs. The CoB provides an online Masters in Business Administration degree in General Business, Entrepreneurship & Family Enterprise, Hospitality & Casino Management, International Business, Project Management, Data Analytics, Finance, Human Resource Management, and Marketing. It also offers an online Masters in Health Administration degree. Online MBA students have the unique opportunity to participate in a two-week immersion study abroad trip to Sydney, Australia.
