Indiana University South Bend educates over 5,000 students each semester and offers more than 100 degrees. Many of these high-quality programs are earned through the Judd Leighton School of Business and Economics. According to their mission statement, “The campus values excellence in teaching, student-faculty interaction, research and creative activity, diversity and inclusivity, a global perspective, and collaboration in life-long learning.” IUSB also works to make earning an education accessible to everyone through a variety of scholarship opportunities and $43 million allocated for financial aid.

Education

Undergraduate business students can pick from 11 majors in top subjects like Finance, Health Services Management, Advertising, or Human Resource Management. Working professionals or those with busy schedules can easily earn their graduate degree through evening classes offered once a week on campus. A Graduate Certificate in Business or Master’s of Business Administration can be earned. Recent business graduates who meet certain criteria and are fully admitted into the Leighton School of Business and Economics may qualify for the Fast Track MBA, which allows all prerequisite courses to be waived.

Student Life

Leighton students have many opportunities to get involved on-campus. There are three honors societies, intramural sports, and business clubs such as Finance Student Association, Accounting Association, and the Entrepreneurship Club.

The School also pours into students through educational and networking events like the annual TIBCO IT Management Seminar Series and Entrepreneurship Lecture Series. A study abroad opportunity is available during a three week intensive trip to Athens, Greece. This trip counts towards a 3-credit hour course on Business and Society and includes both learning and touring the historic city.

There are several distinct academic success programs on-campus. The Titan Success Center is a resource specifically for first and second-year students. Participants are paired with professional and faculty advisors who work diligently to build rapport, help students adjust to college life, and meet their academic goals.

The Academic Centers for Excellence provide free tutoring for students at all levels of their educational journey. Leadership Academy is a unique summer program for Twenty-First Century Scholarship and minority students who will be attending their first year at IUSB. Those involved complete two classes over a six week period over the summer and receive a scholarship that pays for pays entirely for the tuition and required fees of the two elective courses they take during the academy. Textbooks, supplies, and backpacks are also included.

Online Programs

A BS in Business Administration can be earned online from the Leighton School of Business and Economics. This program was created with several other Indiana University locations, making it easy to find courses at any time. Core concepts covered include Finance, Information Systems, Economics, and Quantitative Business Analysis. The business schools at IU Northwest, Indiana University (IU) Kokomo, IU South Bend, and IU Southeast are all accredited by the AACSB.
