Business students benefit from partner schools in places like China, India, Liberia, Spain, Sweden, and Uruguay.
Student Life
Business students have the advantage of living in Dyer Hall, designated only for business students, where they can live life together, study, work on projects, and hang out. The life of a student encompasses more than just what they learn in the classroom. They should participate in student-led organizations to build friendships and knowledge and network with professionals. Business-specific groups include Alpha Kappa Psi, the Association for Computing Machinery, Beta Alpha Psi, Economics Club, Finance Association, Graduate Association of Business Students, Marketing Association, and the Association of Healthcare Administrators.
A variety of experiential learning opportunities exist for undergraduate and graduate students. They can help prepare income tax for free for families in financial crisis. They can monitor and manage a real stock portfolio through the DA Davidson Investment Fund. For honor students, there is a course where they can collaboratively research and write a book about business, and even get it published. The CoB’s Center for Entrepreneurship & Economic Development hosts the Idaho Entrepreneur Challenge. In this challenge, similar to “Shark Tank,” teams pitch a new business plan idea to a panel to win cash prizes. Graduate students can participate in the International Collegiate Business Strategy Competition, in-depth projects involving consultations with Idaho companies in the Bengal Solutions Program, and even help create safety protocols regarding threats in governmental cybersecurity through the NIATEC.
