Henderson State University’s School of Business features bachelor’s and master’s degrees designed to prepare students for successful business careers. The School of Business is affordable and accredited by the AACSB. Students will be taught by world-class faculty in small classroom settings, where they are more than just a number. The small class sizes allow for personalized attention. The new School of Business Center for Excellence launched Spring 2019. This center provides students with professional business mentorships, peer mentorships, and experiential learning opportunities. All freshmen business students are assigned a peer guide, a more experienced business student, to help ensure their transition from high school to college is smooth.

Education

Bachelor’s programs are available in Accounting, Aviation, Entrepreneurship, Finance, Management, Management Information Systems, and Marketing. These programs can prepare students to sit for their CPA exam, gain flight hours to become a professional airline pilot, or manage the Ross Whipple Student Managed Investment Fund. Graduate students are able to pursue an MBA at the Hot Springs Campus or choose the hybrid/online route. Classes for the Hot Springs MBA are offered in the evenings and meet once a week for two hours. The MBA is very economical and is designed to be completed in approximately two years.

Student Life

Undergraduate business students can also receive free tutoring from Graduate Assistants. When students are ready to prepare for their career, they can develop the professional skills needed in today’s demanding job market. With the assistance of the Center for Excellence, students can build an impressive resume and digital portfolio, improve their interview skills, and search for jobs. Students at the junior, senior, and graduate levels can enroll in the business internship class and receive course credits while gaining hands-on work experience in their chosen field of business. Additionally, juniors and seniors can earn three-credits for completing the Business Mentorship Experience. In this valuable program, students are assigned a professional business mentor, who is dedicated to helping their student achieve their future career goals and expose them to the business world.

Through the Business Beyond the Classroom program, students are able to attend networking events, guest speaker series, compete in business competitions, and travel locally and abroad. Prior to traveling abroad, students are encouraged to take International Business and Global Business and Cultural Immersion. A selective group of students who excel within the business department will be nominated by their professors to serve as Business Ambassadors. These bright, well-rounded students attend business events on behalf of the School of Business.

Online Programs

Students in the hybrid/online program will complete all of their coursework online, with the exception of two weekend sessions that include Friday evenings and day sessions on Saturday. Students who live too far from campus to attend can use video conferencing to participate.
