The Gabelli School of Business at Fordham University celebrates its Centennial this year. Since 1920, Gabelli has built upon its Jesuit foundation and holistically empowered future business leaders to impact the world positively. The around 4,300 students receive instruction that sparks inspiration, novelty, excellence, curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking skills. Every degree program is accredited by the AACSB and encourages students to value purpose as much as profit.
Education
Undergraduates can major in Public Accounting, Accounting Information Systems, Public Accountancy, Business Administration, Applied Accounting & Finance, Information Systems, Finance, Global Business, or Marketing. Business Administration degrees must be paired with at least one of the primary concentrations like Consulting, Finance, Accounting, Entrepreneurship, Business Economics, Management, Social Innovation, Marketing, or Information Systems. The Global Business major must be paired with at least one concentration from the list that includes Digital Media & Technology, Global Marketing with Consumer Insights, and Global Finance & Business Economics. Any major can add one of 21 concentrations available. For graduate students, there are Masters degrees in Business Administration, Applied Statistics & Decision-Making, Global Finance, Management, Marketing Intelligence, Quantitative Finance, Taxation, Accounting, Business Analytics, Information Systems, and Media Management. Those who seek the highest degree can obtain a Business Ph.D. or a Doctor of Professional Studies. Both provide specialized tracks in Capital Markets or Strategy & Decision-Making, and the DPS has the added optional track in Business Economics.
Although there are aspects of global business taught throughout the curriculum, Gabelli students have the privilege to study abroad and gain priceless international business exposure and a multicultural perspective. They provide study abroad trips all over the globe from London to South Africa to Austria. Graduate-level international study abroad trips are to Turkey, Poland, Germany, China, and Iceland.
Student Life
Student-led organizations for business students include the Alternative Investment Club, Beta Alpha Psi, Business of Sports Society, Digital Business Society, Finance Society, Marketing Association, Investment Banking Society, Students for Fair Trade, and Fintech Network. These groups build confidence, leadership abilities, in-depth knowledge, and essential relationships. Gabelli also provides its very own Personal and Professional Development Center that assist business students in their academic and career pathway.
A plethora of co-curricular learning opportunities exist throughout the Gabelli experience. Students will find first-hand networking events with leading New York City businesses. There are academic competitions in all sorts of different categories. In the Consulting Cup, students work with a team to investigate a real company, identify its most significant problem, find a solution, and present it to a panel. Other opportunities include the Financial Modeling Project, Local Consulting Program, Service Learning, and overseeing the Student Management Investment Fund. The Fordham Foundry is where innovation and entrepreneurship are infused, and creativity flourishes. It provides spaces to work, educational events, programs, mentors, and advisors for students.
