Education

The School of Natural Sciences, Mathematics & Business’ academic disciplines allows bachelor’s and master’s students to specialize their focus in one area of interest. These disciplines are a part of a student’s transition into higher education, which includes being made aware of each subject as a distinct discourse community with specific cultures, styles, and ways of communicating.

The Life and Physical Sciences department offers courses that center on understanding, describing, and predicting natural phenomena through the scientific method. Courses involve the knowledge of interactions among natural events and the implied results of scientific principles on human experiences and the physical world. Undergraduate degrees include majors in Biology, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.

The Mathematics and Computer Science Department is one of the university’s oldest scientific disciplines, while computer science is one of the youngest. Both disciplines play broad and crucial roles in our world today. Fisk University offers robust undergraduate degrees in both disciplines to shape a supportive and welcoming community. Bachelor’s degrees include majors in Mathematics, Data Science, and Computer Science.

The Business Administration program serves undergraduate and graduate students from a variety of backgrounds. A principal objective of the program is to equip students with the skills they will need for entry-level positions and for development in business, including attaining the credentials for graduate business programs. Undergraduate degrees include majors in Accounting, International Business, Music Business, Financial Economics, and Management. Fisk offers a Master of Business Administration.

Online Programs

Fisk University’s Human Development and Leadership degree is the first and only fully online program. It was implemented in the spring of 2020. The Human Development and Leadership program is an online completion degree consisting of existing Elective Studies courses. This program was designed to meet the needs of distance learners who have obtained an associate degree or its equivalent and for bachelor’s degree students who have been out of school for a period and need to complete their coursework.
