Fairfield University is a Catholic school that embraces students’ spiritual well-being and their entrepreneurial spirit at the same time through the award-winning Charles F. Dolan School of Business. In 2019, Money Magazine ranked Dolan among the Top 10 Best Colleges for Business Majors. Several of the specific programs have also been highly ranked. The graduate Business Analytics, Marketing, Finance, and Accounting programs are all among the Top 20 with US News and World Report. The part-time MBA is ranked 2nd in Connecticut. The Princeton Review also recognizes the MBA among the best in the country. The only thing that is possibly even more impressive than these accolades is that 99.4% of undergraduates students find employment or are enrolled in graduate school within six months of graduation. Graduates have assumed positions with Goldman Sachs, J.P. Morgan, IBM, and Merrill Lynch.

Education

The world-class undergraduate majors include Accounting, Economics-Business, Finance, Information Systems and Operations Management, International Business, Management, and Marketing. Concentrations for Management students include Business and Society, Human Resources, and Entrepreneurship. Marketing students can pursue a concentration in Relationship Marketing or Integrated Marketing Communications.

Twenty-first-century career-readiness preparation is embedded into the curriculum. Students will encounter the technology used in the real-world in the Business Education Simulation and Trading (BEST) classroom. BEST features 34 workstations, a stock ticker, and a data wall. Economics students will complete an Investigative Learning Experience, which is a reflection paper tying together all of their experiences inside and outside of the classroom, such as internships and study abroad experiences.

Graduate students can reach their career endeavors with an MS in Accounting, Business Analytics, Finance, or Management, or an MBA. MBA students will complete a series of four modules: Decision Metrics, Insights and Analysis, Ethical Leadership, and Strategic Decision-Making. Beyond the core courses that fall within these modules, students customize the remainder of their degree with a concentration in Accounting, Finance, Global Strategy, Information Systems, and Business Analytics, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Management, Marketing, Marketing Analytics, or Strategic Human Resources.

Student Life

Students have four years to pack in study abroad experiences, internships, professional development, and organizations; there’s no way you’ll get bored! The average Dolan student completes 2.3 internships, and 92% of graduates have completed at least one internship with companies such as Deloitte, Morgan Stanley, Prudential Financial, KPMG, the Federal Reserve Bank, and Amazon. For Dolan students, internships have gone international, with students spending a semester in Barcelona working for a co-working office space. In the summer, students can spend 4-10 weeks completing an internship in Brazil, Guatemala, or South Africa through the Global Scholars Program.

Students wanting to start their own business can compete for seed money at the annual Fairfield StartUp Showcase. In 2019, one student was invited to present her digital magazine at the Forbes Under 30 Summit. Students can also track their involvement in the Accounting Club, Economics Club, Entrepreneurship Club, International Business and Studies Club, Marketing Club, Proactive Investment Club, and Women in Business.

Online Programs

Online MBA classes will kick-off summer 2020. Students will be able to combine these flexible courses with on-campus courses to get the best of both worlds!
