Students of East Stroudsburg University’s College of Business and Management (COBM) are exposed to a contemporary and challenging curriculum that adequately prepares them for real-world business decisions. At the College of Business and Management, the chance to integrate theory and application through meaningful experience is a distinctive feature of the program. Traditional and online students learn necessary analytical and practical skills to deal with a wide range of issues encountered in their professional careers. Students are the business school’s top priority, and its mission is to offer opportunities to them for life-long learning and prepare them to be the leaders who contribute to the economic, educational, and cultural life of the area and beyond.
Departments within the College of Business and Management include Business Management, Digital Media Technologies, Hospitality, Recreation, & Tourism Management, Sports Management, and Leadership Studies & Military Science. The Department of Business Management provides courses that introduce students to the many careers in the field of business. The BS Degree in Business Management offers the benefits of small class sizes, personal advising by faculty, and modern teaching classrooms. Students considering Graduate School and wanting to increase their learning with technology and use technology to train others in education or the corporate world will want to research the M.S. in Instructional Technology.
The Department of Hospitality, Recreation, and Tourism Management now features two Bachelor of Science degree programs: Recreation Services Management and Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management. The degree equips students with many options, with considerable choices of course selection, depending on goals and interests. Sports Management includes extensive course offerings, and there are internship opportunities in professional sports, recreation sport, college athletics, and amateur and Olympic athletics. Programs include the Bachelor of Science, Sport Management, Master of Science, Sport Management, and the Master of Science, Management and Leadership of Sport Management. Along with top-notch leadership training, Army ROTC will help pay for a student’s college tuition. Students enrolled in the ROTC will have a typical college student experience like all other students on campus, but after graduation, they will be an Officer in the Army.
There are currently over 150 active student clubs and organizations on the East Stroudsburg campus. Organizations include the Accounting Society, Career Development and Student Success, Community Health Organization, Computer Science Organization, and the Entrepreneurship Club.
East Stroudsburg’s current online programs are limited to those outside of the College of Business and Management’s scope. The university provides distance learners with a Master of Science in Health Education, a Master of Arts in Professional & New Media Writing, and A Master of Education in Reading. Online courses that deal with topics inherent to the business school that can be found at East Stroudsburg include Principles of Management, Financial Accounting Fund, Managerial and Cost Accounting, Financial Management I and II, Human Resource Management, and Organizational Strategy.
