The Labry School of Science, Technology, & Business at Cumberland University is both modern and contemporary in the creation of its curriculum. The relevant business programs are grounded in foundational business principles and seek to enhance communication, decision-making, ethical and critical thinking, teamwork, and problem-solving skills both inside and outside of the classroom. This school’s business programs are accredited by the ACBSP.
Education
There is an Associate of Arts in Business degree available. Those pursuing a bachelors degree can major in Marketing, Business Administration, Accounting, Management, and Health Care Administration. Graduate students can obtain a Master of Business Administration degree, which has been offered by the university since 1995. The MBA focuses on core areas of study like Finance, Strategic Leadership, Marketing, Management, and Managerial Accounting. Many financial aid opportunities await qualified students, including the work-study program where students work part-time on or off-campus, and the money earned is put towards their university costs. Cumberland also provides scholarships and grants that business students can partake in, including the Ernest L. Stockton Jr. Grants, Trustee Scholarships, Presidential Award Scholarships, Cumberland Promise Scholarships, and a wide variety of Endowed Scholarships.
Student Life
Organizations at Cumberland like Delta Mu Delta, Cumberland University History Society, College Republicans, College Democrats, Leadership Council, Baptist Collegiate Ministries, Best Buddies, and President’s Ambassadors, exist to enhance the overall educational and life experience for students. When students are a part of the Student Government Association, they are given a voice to influence and impact the direction of the school and to help the administration in solving school-related problems. Another advantage for students is the participation in the Tennessee Intercollegiate Student Legislature, where they can be a voice and make a governmental impact on a state level.
To assist students with everything needed to succeed in their time at Cumberland is the Office of Student Success. It provides free peer tutoring, helps with writing assignments, mentoring, and a variety of academic resources. People typically attend universities to be able to pursue a career that takes higher education to achieve. The Office of Career Services and Internships, through its many services, offers career planning, workshops, preparation for graduate school, finding internships, searching for jobs, and resume assistance. It provides a full self-assessment and helps students to understand what it takes to get to that point of beginning a career and obtaining success. All undergraduate students get free access to the local Jimmy Floyd Family Life Center. It offers fitness and health programs and recreational activities, including a variety of sports and workout classes, gyms, and a pool.
Online Programs
Online learning at Cumberland is an excellent way for students to receive the same top-notch education from the same faculty as they would on-campus. It is an affordable, convenient, and self-paced educational format. For business students, the Master of Business Administration degree is offered 100% on-campus, 100% online, or a hybrid of both options.
