
The highly respected Malik and Seeme Hasan School of Business at Colorado State University-Pueblo began offering bachelor’s degrees in business in 1964, launched master’s degrees in 1984, and gained prestigious accreditation to the premier AACSB in 2004. Hasan is also home to The Center for Cyber Security Education and Research. This Center has been recognized as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education by the National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security. The university sponsors the annual Southern Colorado’s Premier Entrepreneurship Competition, and students in high school or below can compete for a chance to win a $4,000 scholarship to the Hasan School of Business.
Education
Undergraduate students can earn a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration or Computer Information Systems. Students in the Business Administration program select a major in either Accounting or Economics. There is also a unique 3+2 Program for students to earn a joint BSBA/MBA or BS-CIS/MBA in a total of five years. Earning this joint degree will significantly save students money and time.
At the graduate level, students can earn a Master’s of Business Administration. The curriculum consists of 30-hours of core business courses and six hours of electives. Foundational courses cover topics such as accounting, business administration, computer information systems, economics, finance, management, and marketing. Courses are offered in an accelerated eight-week pace, and this program can be completed in as little as one year.
Student Life
The Thomas V. Healy Center for Business and Economic Research is an outlet for students to conduct projects and research on sustainable economic development. The Computer Information Systems Cyber wolves team ranked 6th in the United States among 175 schools and 3rd in the silver category at the National Cyber League TEAM Cyber Security games Competition. Other student clubs with the Hasan School of Business include the Association for Computer Machinery and the Marketing Club. Both of these clubs provide opportunities for students to volunteer, network with professionals, attend social functions, and go on company tours. Students can also be invited to participate in the elite Beta Gamma Sigma, the international honor society for high performing business school students. HSB has also forged corporate partnerships with companies such as Enterprise, Sherwin-Williams, Target, and Wells Fargo. In addition to providing internships to students, these companies also host career shadow days, provide in-class workshops, offer mentoring, sponsor networking events, award scholarships, and hire students for full-time jobs upon graduation.
Online Programs
The 36-credit hour online MBA consists of 12 classes. There are two sessions per semester, creating a total of six start dates per year, giving students the flexibility to enter the program almost immediately after being accepted. While the average length of time to complete this program is two years, some students are able to graduate in just one year. This program offers maximum flexibility with the same accreditation as the on-campus program, making it the perfect choice for students looking to balance work responsibilities, family obligations, and pursue an advanced degree.
