The School of Business and Technology at the College of St. Scholastica believes in equipping leaders with integrity and guiding them to become decision-makers with a strong sense of social responsibility. Experiential learning is matched with an emphasis on liberal arts to create trend-setting global leaders who will exercise professional skills in the worldwide arena. The business school develops academics and business leaders who embody the values of the College of St. Scholastica and the School of Business & Technology. A graduate of the school should consistently value and demonstrate high levels of professional excellence, ethical decision-making, global awareness, and social responsibility. The six pillars the business school uses as the very framework for its approach to higher education include Courage, Respect, Innovation, Community, Fairness, and Love of Learning.

Education

Students researching the business school will find a current broadening of the school’s focus in the area of international business. This development in the School of Business and Technology will mean study abroad programs in places like China, Ireland, Russia, and India. The curriculum for this global education cultivated ethical decision-making and impactful student engagement through social activities, professional organizations, and internship opportunities.

Undergraduate programs currently offered at the business school include degrees in Finance, Marketing, Accounting, Organizational Leadership, Business Management, and Computer Information Systems. There are four exemplary graduate programs listed as well including an MBA in Leadership and Change, an MBA with a concentration in Rural Healthcare, a Master’s of Science in Applied Data Analytics, and a Master’s of Science in Project Management.

The Dean of the business school is Rick Revoir. Dr. Revoir has served at the College of St. Scholastica since 2004 and has a long history of teaching courses and is an essential member of the community in Duluth, Minnesota.

Student Life

The staff and faculty of the School of Business and Technology claim to put the student first. Small class sizes are a feature of the business school, and there is a priority there that educators would know students by name and work hard to offer mentoring and career advisement. The School of Business and Technology offers its students resources throughout the Fall and Spring semester, which allow them to interact with one another and become even more familiar with the business school staff. The faculty of the school often lead discussions and hold seminars of topics relevant to business development.

Online Programs

Many of the School of Business and Technology’s programs are offered both in the classroom and online through blended learning. Undergraduate areas of study which include online options for distance learners are in Accounting, Business Management, Computer Information Systems, Marketing, and Organizational Leadership. Graduate students wanting an online MBA in healthcare will be interested in the business school’s online MBA with a focus in Rural Healthcare. The 36-credit hour degree can be completed in just two years as a part-time distance degree.
