Each semester Bemidji State University serves more than 5,000 students with a core philosophy built on “a commitment to environmental stewardship, community service, and global understanding.” The campus is nestled between Lake Bemidji and the surrounding forest area. This location lends itself to a plethora of outdoor activities and a unique appreciation of the great outdoors. While there is a small-town feel, students can also enjoy many off-campus amenities such as restaurants, coffee shops, and a natural foods co-op.

Education

Within the College of Business, Mathematics, and Science, there are several departments and programs specifically designated for business students. The Business Administration curriculum includes majors in Management, Marketing, Accounting, Entrepreneurship, Finance, Computer Information Systems, Indigenous Nations Marketing, or Marketing Communication. All programs are accredited by the IACBE and housed within the new $14 million Memorial Hall. A very hands-on approach is taken to learning with many opportunities for internships, creative projects, collaboration with other departments, and travel. Bemidji State is the most internationally connected campus in the Minnesota State University system. Education abroad programs allow students to explore China, Japan, South Africa, Thailand, Iceland, Denmark, Sweden, England, and Malaysia.

The Department of Accountancy offers a Bachelor’s of Science in Accounting both online and on-campus. Accounting students still receive a solid business foundation with courses like Computer Business Applications, Strategic Management, Legal Environment, and Marketing.

Student Life

Bemidji strives to create a sense of community on-campus through outdoor recreational activities, intramural sports, student organizations, and an investment in the Arts. The University is home to an NCAA Division 1 hockey team, basketball team, and football team. Because of their unique lakeside location, students enjoy kayaking, paddleboarding, or participate with the award-winning fishing team. There are six residence halls with many choices of lodging styles. There are many clubs and organizations to choose from as well. Business students may benefit from options like the Accounting Club, American Marketing Association, Construction Management Club, and more.

Online Programs

The online MBA at Bemidji State University prides itself on being affordable, flexible, and accessible. The program allows students to adjust the pace of their degree with the ebb and flow of their career and home life. Classes are held in six or eight-week blocks and taught by well-respected and experienced professors. Leadership and managerial skills are a focus point as students work together through discussion boards and group projects. There are multiple start dates a year, and MBA students qualify for in-state tuition, making this degree a prudent choice for those looking to advance their careers.

Undergraduates can also partake in the University’s distance MBA with their accelerated format. Students with majors in Business Administration or Accounting may qualify to take up to four MBA courses during their senior year.
