Student Life
The life of a student is comprised of both in-class academia and outside of the classroom experiences. When on-campus, business students can experience faculty mentorships, gain hands-on skills working in the trading room full of high-tech equipment and Bloomberg terminals, and participate in the Student Investment Fund helping manage the University’s endowment of over $350,000. For real-world, off-campus experiences, Willumstad works hard to find quality, competitive, and paid internships and job shadowing opportunities for every student with companies like Geico, State Farm, Flynn Zito, and ING Bank. As leadership is a highly important factor in the business world, students find on-campus opportunities to hear and learn from distinguished scholars and executives through events like the Practitioners’ Perspective Lecture Series and the Hagedorn Lectureship on Corporate and Social Responsibility.
Other leadership growth opportunities exist through the Business Plan Competition, the University Trading Challenge, the Women’s Leadership Conference, the Leadership Scholars Program, and participation in student-led organizations. Groups specific to business students include the Finance Society, Delta Sigma Pi, Accounting Society, International Business Honor Society, Human Resources Society, Beta Alpha Psi, and the Dean’s Student Advisory Council.
