The School of Business at Adams State University’s mission is to “deliver a contemporary, integrated business curriculum emphasizing teaching excellence in a student-centered environment.” The educational experience at Adams State is driven by High Impact Practices, which include many opportunities for written reflection, original research, collaborative projects, and an interest in individual student needs. This is particularly important because of their commitment to advancing social mobility. Students also gain valuable work and volunteer experience through many University partnerships with local businesses and organizations throughout the San Luis Valley.

Education

Adam’s State Business programs are available to students at every level of their education. On-campus and online programs make earning a degree accessible and flexible. An Associate’s of Science in Business can be completed in two years. Students can also earn their Bachelor’s of Arts or Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration with relevant concentrations like Advertising, Accounting, International Business, Entrepreneurship, Health Care Administration, and Management. The accounting degree is recognized by the Colorado State Board Accountancy. Minors are offered in Healthcare Administration, Music Business, Agribusiness, Economics, and more. Driven students can participate in a five-year B.S./MBA program allows students to get a head start on their career by finishing their undergraduate and graduate degree at an accelerated rate. An online MBA is also available outside of the five-year program.

Student Life

Within the School of Business, there is a national professional business fraternity and a national honor society for business, management, and administration. Clubs specifically for business students include Agribusiness, an Adams State Toastmasters Chapter, Bulls and Bears (finance), and Pacioli Club (accounting). A few of the clubs and organizations outside of the business school include Adventure Programs, Climbing Team, First Year Immersion, and FitWell. Civic engagement is an important part of the campus experience. Students work with the University to volunteer in the San Luis Valley area. Through this work, they often meet community leaders, network, make new friends, find new areas of interest, and gain valuable experience towards their future careers.

Online Programs

Distance learners have many options at Adams State University. Those beginning their learning journey can earn an Associate’s of Science with a Business emphasis. Students ready to complete their undergraduate degree can choose from a Bachelor’s of Arts or Bachelor’s of Science in business.

The Master’s of Business Administration is also a 100% online program with esteemed accreditation. The program can be completed in only two years and offers areas of emphasis in Finance, Health Administration, Leadership, Public Administration, or Sports Leadership. Students who complete this well-rounded program can expect to have advanced skills in assessing and analyzing the performance of organizations, identifying and diagnosing organizational opportunities and threats, solving problems, and designing and formulating plans for strategies.
