The School of Business at Adams State University’s mission is to “deliver a contemporary, integrated business curriculum emphasizing teaching excellence in a student-centered environment.” The educational experience at Adams State is driven by High Impact Practices, which include many opportunities for written reflection, original research, collaborative projects, and an interest in individual student needs. This is particularly important because of their commitment to advancing social mobility. Students also gain valuable work and volunteer experience through many University partnerships with local businesses and organizations throughout the San Luis Valley.
Adam’s State Business programs are available to students at every level of their education. On-campus and online programs make earning a degree accessible and flexible. Within the School of Business, there is a national professional business fraternity and a national honor society for business, management, and administration. Clubs specifically for business students include Agribusiness, an Adams State Toastmasters Chapter, Bulls and Bears (finance), and Pacioli Club (accounting). A few of the clubs and organizations outside of the business school include Adventure Programs, Climbing Team, First Year Immersion, and FitWell. Civic engagement is an important part of the campus experience. Students work with the University to volunteer in the San Luis Valley area. Through this work, they often meet community leaders, network, make new friends, find new areas of interest, and gain valuable experience towards their future careers.
