Education

Problem-solving is a key component of learning at UST. The Cameron School of Business focuses on this by integrating relevant experiential learning opportunities and training in “soft skills” like presenting, written communication skills, interviewing, and more. There are two program options available for business students. A four year, Bachelor’s of Business Administration or a combination degree, which allows students to complete their BBA and MBA in five years. The University of St. Thomas is Houston’s only Catholic University. Their values system can be seen in all aspects of the student experience. In addition to traditional business courses like Mathematics for Economics and Business, Principles of Management, and Business Communication, the curriculum also includes an array of topics such as Philosophy, Ethics, Theology, and a Freshman Symposium course.

Students have many opportunities to build on their classroom learning through unique programs and events. Celt Coffee Hour gives students the opportunity to engage with industry leaders in round-table discussions. The Business Symposium is an annual conference that connects current students with alumni and local business experts. Guest speakers also join classes each semester to give insight into the current business industry.

Student Life

With a campus located in the heart of a bustling city, there is never a shortage of things to do. On-campus the Campus Community committee hosts events to support and celebrate student differences. A few of the past events include Food Truck Frenzy, Commuter on the Go!, CeltTalks, and Food Features. Campus Initiatives encourage serving others through volunteering with the University and surrounding community. This program pairs students with opportunities to help others and gain invaluable communication, empathy, and organizational skills.

UST also likes to have fun, a few of the on-campus activities that were recently held were Bingo, Celts Got Talent, Lei’d Back Luau, Spring Formal, and an annual Halloween party. Business and Ethics Society, Association for Latino Professionals of America, Beta Alpha Si, and Accounting Society, are several clubs and organizations that may be of interest to Cameron School of Business Students. There are several ways for students to participate in leadership roles. Most of the opportunities require a one-year commitment as well as a formal application. This type of activity would be an excellent addition to any business resume.
