The College of Business Administration at the University of Illinois at Chicago was first opened in 1965 in the heart of the city. The college started with three small programs but has now grown to house 150 faculty members and 2,500 undergraduate students studying in various subject areas. As the city and business world has changed through the years, UIC Business has also changed. They are now one of the top-ranked business schools in the nation, hold an international reputation, and are accredited by the AACSB. Students and faculty alike come from across the country and world to form the diverse student body you will find at UIC Business.
UIC Business is housed within Douglas Hall, which has recently undergone some significant renovations. Positioned right in the center of the UIC campus, Douglas Hall is now a modern state-of-the-art learning center. It includes six learning studios, 12 breakout rooms, space on each of the three floors for collaborative learning and a café.
Education
UIC Business offers undergraduate degrees in many areas including Accounting, Entrepreneurship, Finance, Human Resource Management, Information and Decision Sciences, Management, Marketing, and Business Administration. In 2012 UIC Business launched its Business Scholars Program, which is their honors college for high achieving and highly motivated undergrad students. It is a four-year program of leadership development that prepares students for the competitive world of business. Students within the Business Scholars program are also given special consideration for scholarships ranging from $5,000 up to full-tuition.
Student Life
Students at UIC Business have a variety to choose from when it comes to student organizations; some are specific to race or gender, while others are open to everyone. The Business Learning Center is also a place for students to connect. They host monthly workshops and provide tutoring for students who need it, in addition to providing space to study and work on projects. UIC Business is also unique in that two of the resident halls house professors that host monthly meetings to connect with students. Professor Bill Kohler and his wife reside in Marie Robinson Hall and host a Sunday morning breakfast each month called Hashbrowns and Headlines. Professor Rob Kemp lives in Thomas Beckham Hall with his two cats and hosts Cats, Chats, and Chews every three weeks to discuss the benefits of accounting.
Online Programs
The graduate programs at UIC Business are designed to fit your life by offering full-time, part-time, and weekend options that include combinations of online and in-person classes. Graduate degrees are provided in the areas of Business Administration, Accounting, Business Analytics, Finance, Management Information Systems, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Operations Management. The BBA program is also offered both in traditional classes on-campus and online, to meet the needs of many students.
