Rockhurst University, a private 4-year Jesuit university, is located on the southern side of Kansas City, MO. The compact, 55 acre campus makes an efficient use of space; all academic buildings surround the main quad with the imposing Rockhurst Bell Tower at one end. Rockhurst was founded in 1910 by Reverend Michael Dowling, S.J. The campus architecture is a blend of light-stone college gothic (castle-like) and contemporary structures. Kansas City is in the heart of the Midwest and is known for its rich history, vibrant culture and expansive cuisine (mainly consisting of beef). Kansas City is also close to the geographic center of the contiguous 48 states.
