Olivet Nazarene University is a private, Christian liberal arts university located in Bourbonnais, Illinois. Established in 1907, Olivet Nazarene University is theologically grounded in the Wesleyan tradition and is affiliated with the Church of the Nazarene. Situated on a beautiful park-like campus of 275 acres, the University is centrally located in the historic Village of Bourbonnais just 50 miles south of Chicago’s Loop. The University also operates additional sites in Rolling Meadows and LakeBrook, Illinois; Indianapolis, Indiana; Grand Rapids and Grand Ledge, Michigan; Hong Kong more than 100 School of Graduate and Continuing Studies learning locations throughout Chicagoland and the Midwest.

Academic Programs

Olivet Nazarene University’s mission is to “provide high-quality academic instruction for the purpose of personal development, career and professional readiness, and the preparation of individuals for lives of service to God and humanity.” The University is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools and has been so since 1956.

Olivet Nazarene University follows a two-semester calendar with an optional summer session and offers more than 120 areas of study, including associate, bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral programs. The University is divided into more than a dozen colleges and schools, including the College of Arts and Sciences, the School of Business, the School of Education, the School of Engineering, the School of Life and Health Sciences, the School of Music, and the School of Theology and Christian Ministry. Study abroad programs are offered at several locations, including China, Costa Rica, England, Egypt, Romania, Russia, Uganda, Washington D.C., and Los Angeles.

Student Life

Olivet Nazarene University has a total enrollment figure of nearly 5,000, including more than 3,000 undergraduate students. Students come from nearly all 50 states in the Union and more than 15 foreign countries, representing approximately 50 different Christian denominations.

Olivet Nazarene University recognizes more than 90 active student clubs and organizations, including student publications, ROTC, radio broadcasting, music and theatrical performance, and spiritual life organizations. These and other campus activities and events offer students opportunity to interact with one another outside of the classroom setting, forge friendships and create valuable connections with other students and faculty members. Olivet Nazarene University also hosts several special annual events which are eagerly anticipated including Homecoming, the Christmas Banquet, Ollies Follies, and more. When not in class, students can often be found spending time at the local campus hot spots, such as Jazzman’s Cafe A La Carte, the Red Room and the Student Life and Recreation Center. As an NAIA Division II school, Olivet Nazarene University’s varsity athletic teams compete in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference.
