Mount St. Mary’s University was established in 1808 in Emmitsburg, Maryland. “As a Catholic university, Mount St. Mary’s graduates ethical leaders who are inspired by a passion for learning and lead lives of significance in service to God and others.” Of their full-time faculty, ninety-two percent hold a Ph.D. or terminal degree within their field. There are 70 majors, specialty programs, and minors offered through four undergraduate schools. Even with an enrollment of more than 2,000 students, over half of the classes have less than 20 students on the roster. Accreditations, highly trained professors, and small class sizes are just a few of the characteristics that make The Mount stand out among other private, non-profit Universities in the region.

Education

The business programs provided through the Bolte, Sr. School of Business have earned accreditation with the IACBE. The undergraduate programs available are Accounting, Economics, Forensic Accounting, Business, Entrepreneurship, and Sports Management. There are also specialized degrees for working adults that allow them to complete their bachelor’s degree in an accelerated format. These include General Business, as well as Accounting. Graduate students can earn their MBA, MS in Sports Management, or Master’s of Health Administration.

Student Life

The Emmitsburg campus includes 1,400 acres and beautiful mountain views. There are a variety of on-campus housing choices. Traditional residence halls, a large residential complex, suites, cottages, houses, and apartments are all available to the nearly 85% of students who choose to live on site. Five Living and Learning Communities help students come together both in class and during their downtime. The LLC choices are Honors, The Core: Human Values, Living with the Land, Summit Living, or Faith and Learning.

The Mount’s majestic location lends itself to outdoor exploration. The Outdoor Adventures Program provides students with the resources needed to enjoy all sorts of outside activities. Students take trips that last from one day to two weeks and include canoeing, caving, whitewater rafting, hiking, backpacking, rock climbing, and more.

Online Programs

The MBA program at Mount St. Mary’s is designed for working adults. This degree can be completed on campus, online, or in a hybrid blend of both formats. The flexibility continues as students are also able to choose the pace that they work at. Full-time students can finish their degree in as little as one year, while those who choose to complete their program on a part-time basis can take as long as they need.

Specializations are available in Management, Finance, or Marketing, but important topics like strategic analysis, business ethics, social responsibility, management practice, and organizational theory are also covered. Graduate certificates can be added to this degree with only two additional classes. Options include Forensic Accounting and Fraud Investigation, Government Contracting, Organizational Development, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, and Project Management.
