Lake Erie College’s School of Business focuses on creating a positive environment where students can best prepare to succeed in the fast-paced, highly technological, and global world of business. They learn the importance of reliability, collaboration, initiative, forward-thinking, innovation, and teamwork, while they build upon their critical thinking, analytical, and communication skills. This IACBE-accredited SoB provides educational experiences to develop leaders who can make intelligent and ethical decisions for their organization.

Education

Being that the students are the number one priority, all classes are kept small in size and led by professors who make an effort to connect and know each student personally. Undergraduate students pursuing a Bachelors degree can major in Business Administration, Marketing, Entrepreneurship, International Business, Human Resource Management, Sport Studies, or Accounting with a concentration in Forensic Accounting. Graduate students can pursue the Professional MBA, which meets in the evenings, with concentration options in Healthcare Administration, Health Informatics, or Information Technology Management. There is also the 4+1 Program where students receive their Bachelors and MBA in just five years.

To help keep education affordable, business students can access a variety of financial aid options, including scholarships, grants, parent and student loans, and work-study jobs. To expand international understanding, build an impressive resume, and gain life-changing experience, students can travel abroad to study, live, and learn in a different culture. Study abroad locations include Italy, Dublin, London, Buenos Aires, Sydney, and Shanghai.

Student Life

It is vital for business students to engage in activities outside of the classroom, both educational and social. Student organizations like the Accounting Club, Student Government Association, Black Student Union, Campus Activities Board, Italian Culture Club, E.Q. Leadership Council, Instrumental Ensemble and Choir, Forward, and Gender Equity Club can help business students expand their overall educational experience. All first-year students are required to attend the First-Year Experience course entitled “Pathway to Empowerment.” It helps freshmen acclimate to the college environment and set them on the transformative path to success.

They can also participate in Learning Communities, like the Business and Entrepreneurship Learning Community, offering real-life educational experiences and even scholarships. Another great resource to encourage, promote, and assist students in their entrepreneurial efforts is through the Center for Entrepreneurship. Also, they have integrated career support throughout the business curriculum and have also made a lifelong commitment to assisting alumni along their journey. Career support involves skills development programs, workshops, events, resume writing, interview assistance, guidance in finding jobs and experiential learning opportunities, and networking. The SoB works hard to find quality internships with organizations like Boy Scouts of America, U.S. Golf Association, City of Painesville-Economic Development, Progressive, and Zappitelli Financial Services. Students receive hands-on, real-world experience where they can immediately apply what they are learning in class.

Online Programs

To provide the same excellent program and coursework to people all over the world, the School of Business offers a fully accredited and 100% online MBA. It can be completed in two years.
