Endicott College is a small, accredited, seaside, private college whose main campus is located in Beverly, Massachusetts. Established in 1939 as an all women’s college, originally, by Dr. Eleanor Tupper and her husband, Dr. George O. Bierkoe, Endicott College’s founder’s vision was to create a college to “educate women for greater independence and an enhanced position in the workplace”. In 1994 Endicott College welcomed its first co-educational class and today operates additional academic sites in Gloucester and Boston, MA plus international sites in Bermuda, Czech Republic, Spain, Switzerland, and Thailand as well as twenty-eight other instructional locates across New England.
Academic Programs
Endicott College is self-described as being “shaped by a bold entrepreneurial spirit”. The College’s mission is to “offer students a vibrant academic environment that remains true to its founding principle of integrating professional and liberal arts with experiential learning including internship opportunities across disciplines.” Endicott College’s mission statement continues, “The College fosters a spirit of excellence by creating a challenging yet supportive and inclusive environment in which students are encouraged to take intellectual risks, pursue scholarly and creative interests, contribute to the community, and explore diverse career paths. Endicott is committed to supporting the personal and professional development of its students, preparing them to assume meaningful roles within the greater community both domestically and internationally.”Endicott College awards degrees ranging from two-year associates degrees to doctoral and everything in between. The Undergraduate College is divided into several academic departments, including Arts & Sciences, Business, Communication, Education, Hospitality Management, Nursing, Sport Science & Fitness Studies, and Visual & Performing Arts. A pioneer in internship and experiential learning, all of Endicott College’s residents complete three distinct internships over the course of their four-year academic program.
Student Life
Endicott College has a total enrollment figure of more than 4,000, including nearly 3,000 undergraduate students. On-campus housing is offered to students through more than two dozen residence halls. Endicott College is located just north of Boston a 235 acre campus, which features more than 50 buildings. The campus has more than doubled in size over the past decade and has seen multiple newly dedicated buildings, including the Manninen Center for the Arts, the Gerrish School of Business and Judge Science Center.A number of student-led clubs and organizations are recognized by Endicott College, catering to a wide range of interests and providing students with ample opportunity to interact with each other outside of the classroom. An NCAA Division III school, Endicott College’s varsity athletic teams compete in the Commonwealth Coast Conference. Sports include basketball, cross country, equestrian, lacrosse, soccer, tennis and volleyball, with men’s teams in baseball, football, golf, and women’s teams of field hockey and softball. In addition, students have the opportunity to participate in a number of club and intramural sports.
