Cedar Crest College is a private liberal arts college for women located in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Established in 1867, the College is academically independent, though historically affiliated with the United Church of Christ. Cedar Creek College offers several traditional undergraduate programs for women as well as coeducational programs through its School of Adult and Graduate Education (SAGE). Located on a beautiful, suburban, park-like setting of 84 acres, Cedar Creek College’s campus is a nationally registered arboretum with more than 130 different species of trees. Conveniently located in Allentown, Cedar Creek College is just an hour outside of Philadelphia, less than two hours away from New York City and about three hours from Washington, D.C.

Academic Programs

Cedar Crest College seeks to be “dedicated to the education of the next generation of leaders.” The College’s mission statement continues, “Cedar Crest College educates the whole student, preparing women for life in a global community.” The College is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and has been so since 1944.

Cedar Crest College offers a wide range of undergraduate programs with majors in areas including Art, Dance, Global Studies, History, Media Studies, Political Science, Psychology, Social Work, Spanish, Theatre, and Writing for the Bachelor of Arts along with Accounting, Biochemistry, Biology, Business Administration, Chemistry, Criminal Justice, Early Childhood Education, Environmental Conservation, Exercise Science, Forensic Science, Genetic Engineering, Health Promotion & Wellness, Health Science, Mathematics, Middle Level Education, Neuroscience, Nuclear Medicine Technology, Nursing, Nutrition, Public Health, and Secondary Education for the Bachelor of Science degree. Coeducational graduate programs are also offered including Masters degrees in Art, Business Administration, Creative Writing, Education, Forensic Science, and Health Science.

Student Life

Cedar Crest College has a total enrollment figure of more than 1,500, including nearly 1,400 undergraduate students. A variety of student housing opportunities are available including on campus residence halls and graduate housing as well as off-campus housing options.

Cedar Crest College recognizes more than 30 active student clubs which cater to a wide range of academic and personal interests. These and other campus activities and events allow students to interact with one another and with faculty members outside of the classroom setting as well as opportunity to develop valuable leadership qualities and skills. Cedar Crest College is home to several cherished traditions, including the Big Sis/Lil Sis program in which upperclass students are paired with first-year students to help the new students adjust to college life. Students also enjoy participating in the College’s Strawberry Festival which has taken place annually since 1913, as well as the Open Door Ceremony and the Junior Ring Ceremony.
