Bentley University is a private, 4-year school located in Waltham, MA. Founded in Boston in 1917 as the Bentley School of Accounting and Finance, the school relocated 10 miles west to a 163 acre campus in Waltham in 1968. The compact campus, featuring traditional red brick architecture, is nestled between the University of Massachusetts Agricultural school campus and Storer Conservation – a 109 acre park with trails and wildlife. The campus is divided into three parts: Main Campus, South Campus and North Campus. Main Campus contains most of the school’s academic buildings and all of its classrooms and North Campus contains only residence hall buildings named: A, B, C and D and South Campus contains the athletic fields and related buildings.

Academic Programs

Bentley University is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, Commission on Institutions of Higher Education and offers Bachelor’s Degrees, post-baccalaureate certificates, Master’s Degrees, post-master’s certificates and Doctorates in 24 majors. Currently, the only online offerings are for degree completion and limited post-graduate coursework; however, Bentley offers a robust internship program with “co- and extra-curricular activities that emphasize global experiences, community service, creative endeavor, and engagement in the real world of professional practice.” The University is comprised of 17 departments with a strong emphasis on Business (the school’s largest program). Per the Mission statement, Bentley’s aim is “to educate creative, ethical, and socially responsible organizational leaders by creating and disseminating impactful knowledge within and across business and the arts and sciences.” Bentley’s business-oriented high-tech centers and learning facilities give students hands-on experience with the latest hardware and software in finance, information systems, marketing, accounting and languages.

Student Life

Bentley has over 4000 undergraduate students enrolled, most living on campus in a variety of housing ranging from traditional dormitories to apartment-style accommodations. There are many clubs and student-run organizations available including club sports and intramurals. For the varsity athlete, the blue and white Falcons (cheered on by Flex the Falcon) field teams n 13 sports and participate in NCAA Division II competition. Overall, the students are exposed to the Values of Bentley: Diversity (an environment that embraces diversity of opinion free from hostility); Integrity (holding to the highest ethical standards); Responsibility (listen, respond thoughtfully, and strive to create sustainable outcomes); Excellence (passion for improvement, high-quality results, exceeding expectations); Courage (seek new, innovative solutions and be tolerant of honest mistakes) and Teamwork (collaboration, subordinate personal interests). Bentley plans, by its 100th anniversary, to be known as a business-focused center of learning operating in an ethical and socially engaged environment; to integrate business and arts and sciences to produce graduates who positively impact society; and to promote principled and transformative enterprise through education and impactful research.
