Located in Glenside, Pennsylvania, Arcadia University is a private, coeducational, comprehensive institution, known as “Philadelphia’s global university.” Established in 1853 as a small liberal arts college, Arcadia has grown by leaps and bounds and is now known as a top-ranking institution and a pioneer in international education. Named one of the Top Regional Universities in the North by U.S. News & World Report, Arcadia has also been named #1 in Study Abroad for its high percentage of students who have participated in study abroad over the last five years, and was called out as one of the Best Northeastern Colleges by The Princeton Review.

Academic Programs

Arcadia University’s mission is to provide “a distinctively global, integrative, and personal learning experience for intellectually curious undergraduate and graduate students in preparation for a life of scholarship, service, and professional contribution.” Arcadia’s vision is to be “a vibrant and supportive community of diverse scholars and learners; renowned for its high-quality faculty, staff, and students; acclaimed for its student-centered focus; and valued for making a difference in the lives of its graduates.”

Arcadia University is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and has been so since 1946. Offering a wide range of undergraduate and graduate degrees, Arcadia is comprised of half a dozen colleges and schools located in the United States as well as several centers and offices around the world. Those located in the U.S. include the College of Arts and Sciences, the largest college at Arcadia with undergraduate and graduate offerings in the arts, humanities, and sciences; The College of Global Studies which offers more than 100 programs in 15 countries and was the first college in the nation dedicated to international education; the College of Health Sciences; the School of Education; the School of Global Business; and the Office of Graduate & Undergraduate Studies.

Student Life

Arcadia University has a total enrollment figure of approximately 4,000, including well over 2,500 undergraduate students. Several housing options are available for students including traditional-style residence halls, suites and fully furnished apartments. Arcadia also offers several dining options which are available to all students, whether resident or commuter. Local and regional transportation on and off campus is made easy with walking paths, bicycle accommodations, Zipcar, car, bus, or train. Arcadia’s campus is located a mere fifteen minute walk away from the Glenside Train Station.

Arcadia University recognizes a wide range of active student-led clubs and organizations which cater to a number of personal and professional interests. These and other campus events and activities allow students to interact with one another outside of the classroom and provide opportunity for students to develop valuable leadership skills and experience. Traditions at Arcadia include New Student Orientation, Family Weekend at Fall Fest, Commencement and more. As an NCAA Division III school, Arcadia fields nearly two dozen varsity teams and is a member of the Eastern College Athletic Conference as well as the Middle Atlantic Conferences.
