The University at Albany’s School of Business provides high-quality advance knowledge and business programs through applied and scholarly research. The business school encourages its student body to engage well with alumni and business and academic communities. Program leaders offer distinctive and innovative niche programs and experiential educational opportunities. Albany’s business school has a reputation for collaborating with campus and corporate partners. The school’s undergraduate and graduate programs provide students with a competitive edge in many job markets.

The School of Business at the University at Albany features sturdy pipelines to the business community. The majority of the school’s students find jobs before graduation and enjoy access to top executives in leading organizations. School of Business alumni transform into a robust network of leaders aptly shaping the business world. Currently, the business school exists as a family of over 100 faculty members, 20 staff members, and 150 freshman students. There are 450 graduate students in all and a network of over 25,000 alumni.

Education

The School of Business fosters an exemplary work ethic, and the students enrolled there are self-motivated. Their commitment to success is apparent in their mean GPA of 3.4. Over 50% of the school’s accounting students go to work for PwC, Deloitte, EY, and KPMG. Recently the University at Albany has made additional strides in support of its student success by adding the new majors of Cybersecurity and Digital Forensics to its offered programs. The school provides students with unique areas of study and prepares them for professional environments with an acute shortage of skilled professionals.

The School of Business is immensely proud of its distinctive dual accreditation, a trait that less than five percent of business schools across the globe can boast. Only three universities in the state of New York can claim this honor. The school also carries the NSA Center of Excellence designation in both research and teaching. The bachelor’s degrees currently provided at the business school include degrees in Accounting, Business Administration, Digital Forensics, Interdisciplinary Studies, and Financial Market Regulation. The University also offers master’s programs in Accounting, Digital Forensics and Cybersecurity, Forensic Accounting, a full and part-time MBA, a part-time weekend MBA, Professional Accountancy, and Taxation.

Student Life

The University at Albany Massry Center for Business has been built to offer an exceptional environment for students and faculty to promote innovative networking and the sharing of resources and ideas. The building boasts technologically advanced spaces for learning, digital forensics and accounting labs, a Bloomberg terminal outfitted trading room, and a dedicated career services office. Students enrolled in the University at Albany School of Business get more than a degree; they become a contributing member of an active community of students, alumni, faculty, and staff. The business school believes that what students do outside the classroom is as important as what happens within. Over 15 clubs and activities within the school provide opportunities for students to gain knowledge and experience in the fields of business and accounting.

Online Programs

The University’s BS in Informatics has been designed as a unique opportunity for students to learn about technology across disciplines. The program includes courses that center on the relationship between society and technology, the use of technologies across platforms, and the fundamentals of programming. A graduate degree in information science is accredited by the American Library Association and equips students for careers in academic and public sector government agencies.
